Suzanne (Sue) Bakken, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, is a professor of biomedical informatics and an Alumni Professor of the School of Nursing at Columbia University. Her program of National Institutes of Health and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality-funded research has focused on the intersection of informatics and health equity for over 30 years. Bakken has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers and received many awards, including the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research Pathfinder Award. She currently serves as editor-in-chief of the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association and as a member of PCORI’s Methodology Committee.
