Helen Burstin, M.D., MPH, MACP, is chief executive officer of the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS), a coalition of more than 50 specialty societies representing more than 800,000 physicians. CMSS advances the expertise and voice of medical specialty societies supporting physicians and patients and addresses critical issues across specialties through innovation, collaboration and collective action. Burstin has authored more than 100 articles and book chapters on quality, safety, equity and measurement. She serves on the Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine board, the American Society of Hematology Research Collaborative Board of Directors and the Oversight Committee of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry of the American College of Cardiology.
