Anitha John, MD, PhD, is an adult congenital cardiologist and researcher at Children's National Hospital. Her research focuses on building vital infrastructure and patient engagement strategies to study long-term outcomes for patients born with congenital heart defects (CHD), a heterogenous group of rare diseases. Adults with CHD are a rapidly growing segment of the population, however, more long-term studies with patient partnerships are needed to understand the healthcare needs of this population. John serves as a co-principal investigator for a PCORI-funded study on redefining outcomes and navigation to adult-centered care. She is also a principal investigator for a capacity-building engagement award focused on reducing maternal morbidity in CHD.
