Christopher P. Landrigan, MD, MPH, is chief of general pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital, and professor of pediatrics and medicine at Harvard Medical School. Over the past 20 years, he has led major multicenter projects focused on: developing reliable patient safety measurement tools; studying resident-physician sleep-work schedules and patient safety; and developing I-PASS, a program to reduce communication errors. With PCORI funding, he led a seven-hospital study implementing I-PASS for communications between clinicians, patients and families that led to significant improvements in patient safety and experiences of care and a 21-center project to disseminate the program. He founded the I-PASS Institute to widely scale the program.
